Revolar: the personal safety device that helps you take flight

Revolar means “to take flight” in Spanish. After experiencing the effects of assault to family members, Revolar co-founders, Jackie and Andrea, created a wearable personal safety device for people on-the-go. This year, Revolar temporarily closed down shop; however last week, the startup announced that capital infusion from local investors, Empowerment Capital and Volante Capital Advisors, helped the startup take flight again. The company’s mission and drive empowers us!

The scary truth…
  • Every 98 seconds an American is sexually assaulted
  • 1 in 4 women & 1 in 6 men are sexually assaulted in the U.S.
  • Hate crimes against minorities have gone up by 67% in the last two years

The company’s vision is to create a safer, and more inclusive world.

How does it work?

With no monthly fees, users connect the personal safety device (button) to the free Revolar smartphone app. Once the devices are connected and the user has inputted up to five emergency contacts, it is fully functioning. If a user finds him or herself in a threatening situation, the button sends messages designated by the number of clicks.

The personal safety device comes in two versions: Classic and Instinct.

Classic ($39.99).

The Classic device is the fastest way to send for help at your location. Use it for up to a year on a simple, easy-to-replace battery.

Instinct ($79.99).

With the Instinct device, send for help at your location with a few quick clicks of the quarter-sized Instinct wearable. Compared to the Classic, the Instinct has four additional features: (1) step tracking; (2) tactile feedback; (3) dating safety; and (4) key finder. Plus, Instinct stays powered for up to a year on a simple, easy-to-replace battery.
