In response to recent concerns surrounding business identity theft, the Colorado Secretary of State’s office just launched the option to password protect your business filings. While password protection does not make your business filings private, it does allow you to control who is able to make changes to your records.

If you would like to add a password to your business filings, you can follow the instructions on the Colorado Secretary of State’s website, or contact the friendly business attorneys at RUBICON Law.

Also, just a word of praise: The Colorado Secretary of State’s office may be the most business friendly Secretary of State’s office in the country. Business entities can be created in a matter of minutes, at any hour, and at very reasonable cost. Certificates of Good Standing can be created on demand and are free. The annual report filing fee for a business entity is currently $10.00. The Colorado Secretary of State’s office is another reason Colorado is a great place to do business.
